Strong Effort Goes Unrewarded
After a lactluster effort from most of the team Sunday night in a 6-1 lose to Kincardine, Howick responded with a far more intense game as they competed stride for stride with one of the better teams in the league this year in a 5-3 defeat to Tiverton.

The Hornets began their "Elite" league playoffs Monday night against Tiverton. After a scoreless first period Nathan Heipel was rewarded by going to the net and tucking in a rebound that was made available after Devries received a tip pass from Hussey to start the play at the Howick blueline. This goal was sandwiched between two Tiverton goals in the period.
With the Hornets trailing by one starting the third, Bramhill and Meyer found Devries speeding into the offensive zone. With just 18 seconds off the clock it was all tied up at two.
Howick took the lead at the 10:03 mark as the line of Burbidge, Espensen and Devlin swarmed the offensive zone creating loose pucks until Devlin fired a shot over the tender on the short side with the assist going to Burbidge.
Tiverton quickly regrouped and fired three goals in under four minutes and then held onto the lead for the victory.
