Up Off The Mat
Twice against Tiverton in the Elite playdown grouping the Hornets let Tiverton come back and steal away points. This time Howick did manage to retain one, unlike last time they played and Tiverton took home the victory. This 3-3 tie saw the best of both teams and the worst.

Outstanding goaltending from Zach Mulder gave Howick the opportunity to build up a 3-1 lead after two periods of play. Two power play goals from Tiverton in the third earned the home side a draw. Howicks penalty killing has been a strong suit all year, but tonight it could not withstand the momentum that Tiverton had built up from some of the opportunities that were given them from a lack of effort shown by a couple of Hornet's.
All year the coaching staff has asked that each player give their best every shift. If you make a mistake from giving your best, then you did all you could do. But, to take the easy way out and not compete for pucks or positioning.... well.... that's not exceptable!
A victory could have kept us alive in the Elite grouping, as Tiverton and Lucknow still have to play one another. Should one of them swept that home and home portion oof the playdowns our game Friday against Lucknow would have been huge.
Hornet goal scorers tonight were Devries and Burbidge (2). Picking up helpers were Devlin, Espensen, Baillie, Devries, Harkes and Heipel.
Harkes and Heipel continue to show good chemistry together and tonight was no different as they worked their magic on one of the Burbidge goals.
