Waterford Tournament
The Hornets spent the weekend in the Sunny south. (Brant County) Howick competed hard in all of their three games earning an invite back to next years tournament. The organizing committee spoke highly of this teams disciplined play and off ice friendly demeanor. This was also the opinion of the officials as they chatted with the coaching staff and the players alike.

Howick's first game was against this areas Local League Champion Port Dover squad. Zach Mulder played an outstanding game, so much so that to a man the Port Dover's coaching staff mentioned this after the game. Even though the Hornets lost 3-0 two of the goals were scored into an empty net as the Hornets battled to the end to upset the local Champions.
Game two saw the Hornets battle Woolwich in an exciting game that saw Howick fall 3-2. Robbie Bramhill scored on the power play with assists going to Burbidge and Hussey. Mitchell Brooks scored in the third to tie the score at two with assists going to Burbidge and Bramhill.
Game 3 placed Howick against Dresden in their final game and again a thrilling match left the fans sitting on the edge of their seats. With Howick trailing 1-0 after the first they continued to play hard and press the play until midway through the second when Tristan Brears pinched hard on a clearing attempt that moved the puck back to behind the net where Ben Devlin gathered up the biscuit and centered it to Mallory Hussey who spun and fired a low shot under the Dresden  goalie.
Jason Burbidge gave Howick the lead three minutes later as he flew wide past the Dman and rocketed a shot that the Dresden goalie could only get a piece of as Burbidge picked the top corner. Helpers were awarded to Espensen and Hussey on this goal.
After a third period goal half way through the period, Shawn Kleinveld was rewarded for going to the net and pocketed the winner with 1:37 remaining in the final frame. Assists went to Burbidge and Devlin. After a late penalty to the Hornets and a few more tense moments Howick's penalty killing unit along with Mulder coming up big when needed the Hornet's finished up the season with a victory.
