Howick Novice Win the WOAA Elite Championship!!!
The Howick Hornets flew into Monkton and won the WOAA Elite Championship with 6-2 victory.

If you were a fan or a parent in the Monkton arena tonight you would have witnessed a team winning a championship and winning in style. The kids seemed to be very relaxed in the dressing room with lots of laughing and goofing - just being kids. As I walked out of the dressing room it appeared that the parents were more tense than what the kids were (go figure). Out in the stands you could hear the Hornets chanting "Lets Go Howick Lets Go! Woot - Woot!" It was a quick warm up and the refs were ready to get the game rolling.

It was a 2 minutes into the game when Daniel P scored 2 goals to get things going for Howick. Matthew W then added a 3rd goal less than exactly a minute from Daniel's goal. Now the Hornets were up 3-0. With 14 seconds left in the first period Elma-Logan scored making 3-1. The second period started in less than 30 seconds into it, Kyson W scored to make it 4-1. Half way through the period Matthew W scored making it 5-1. Daniel P then - scored again to give him a Hat Trick for the game - putting the Hornets up 6-1 after the second.

2 minutes into the third period the Wildcats came to life scoring to make it 6-2. The Hornets shut down the Wildcats offence preventing them from scoring any more goals. When there was less then a minute left in the game the fans started to count down as the time ran out. When the buzzer alarmed the Hornets emptied onto the ice to congratulate Jaden G on a great game and win. The teams then lined up on their blue lines. Brian Hopper from the WOAA congratulated the Wildcats for being the Novice Elite finalist. Then Brian presented the Howick Hornets as the WOAA Novice Elite Champions for 2012-13 season. He presented each player with a medal and then presented the team with the trophy. The stand went nuts with a standing ovation and lots of cheering. Everyone should be very proud of themselves and their performance throughout this season as you all played extremely well as a team.

A big thank you to the coaches Aaron, Terry & Shannon for your dedication at practice and games. I am thankful I don't have to pick a MVP (most valuable player) for this year because in my eyes I think you ALL deserve it!!!!
