Improved Effort
Even though Seaforth won 6-2 over the midget Mustangs their effort was much improved. The Mustangs forecheck was more noticeable tonight and it created far more scoring opportunities.
The line of Charlebois, Bowman and Hussey had shifts where they would completely dominate the offensive zone with strong board play, good passing and plenty of opportunities. Berfelz, Miller and Duck also worked effectively off of Berfelz's hustle.
After falling behind 1-0 Upper Maitland tied the game up before the end of the first period off a strong forecheck that lead to a point shot that was redirected in by a niffty deflection by Madeline Charlebois.
The Stangs then went ahead 2-1 in the second off of again a strong forecheck that allowed Holly Nelson to slide low into the slot and receive a pass from behind the net that she quickly deposited into the Stars net.
When this team forechecks with passion and desire they give themselves an opportunity to be successfull.
Keep that effort up for a full game and it will payoff.
