Milverton comes to play the Howick Atoms
There seemed to be some tired players and parents on Sunday morning. The time change affects everyone a little different. The game was at 10:00 am at Howick. The Atoms were playing Milverton. After some reminders from the coaching staff, the players headed out for warm up.
Howick and Milverton were working hard in the first period. The puck was moving from end to end making it an interesting game to watch. The goalies were working hard between the pipes. Both teams had shots on the goalies. Shelby Foster (1) wasn't letting the puck in without a fight. Foster made many great saves. As the period progressed each team kept trying to put the puck behind the goal line. With 7:24 left in the period, Milverton scored their first goal of the game. Howick continued to work hard.
The second period saw the puck moving lots again. The fans were enjoying the game. Foster was doing really well in net. After eight minutes of play, Milverton scored again. Howick didn't react to the goal fast enough as Milverton scored again with 1:52 left on the clock. With 57.1 seconds left in the period, Milverton scored again. The players need to remember to play their positions. Foster was left to defend the net by herself several times against the Milverton players. Reece Hamilton (34) had a great shot on goal, the puck just went over the top of the net. As the puck went over net, a collective sigh was heard from the fans.
In the third period, Howick kept trying to score a goal. Several players were denied goals. With 12:16 left in the period, Milverton scored again. Foster was playing hard in the net. Howick started to loose their steam and drive. At 8:32 left, Milverton scored again. Howick managed to not let Milverton get anymore goals after that. The final score was 6-0 for Milverton.
Howick's next game is in Teeswater at 6:00 pm on Friday March 15. They are playing in the Mildmay Tournament. Come out and cheer for the Atoms.
