Excellent weekend at Hockey Day in Howick!!!
After what seemed like weeks off for a Christmas break and time off for the Blizzard of 2014, the Novices put a sub par effort into the game Friday night.
After a long talk about what it means to be part of a Team the kids came out flying and competed for the Hockey Day in Howick game against the Wingham Ironmen Saturday afternoon.
After the 1st period it was a tight contest with the score of 1-1. Unfortunately the Ironmen got a couple lucky bounces and were ahead 3-2 after 2 periods with Jayden Grass scoring both goals for Howick.
The fine defensive play of Joey Scheafer and Kaden Boyd check it very close. The Wingham's netminder stopped numerous attacks by Kyson Williams but finally he allowed 1 goal by Kyson.
With the goalie pulled Howick tried to mount an attack but came up short losing 5-3. The coaching staff was very impressed at how the boys and girls worked together as a team and competed.
Overall it was a great game and a super team effort. Thanks for everyone who put the effort in to making it a great Hockey Day in Howick!!!!! -Kevin Armstrong
