Howick Atoms Win Again!
The Howick Hornets travelled to Listowel for their next playoff game. It was on March 3rd at 6:30. The game was against the Listowel Cyclones Red team. The players seemed pretty excited about the game after their big win in Tiverton. The coach reminded them that they have to play all three periods. We headed out to the bench. I was helping with the bench as the trainer.
There was lots of action for the fans during the first period. The puck continued to move from end to end. The goalies were getting some exercise with stopping the pucks. Neither team was able to score during the first.
During the second period, I noticed there was lots of advice being offered to the kids from the coaches, fans and other players. Wade Schefter (11) scored with 6:48 left on the clock. Both teams continued to work hard. The period ending with the score being 1-0 for Howick.
The third period saw Listowel come out with some force. Howick managed to keep the puck out of their net. With 11:22 left on the clock Matthew Wilken (16) winds up from the blue line and manages to put the puck in the Listowel net. The team was excited with the two goal lead. However, Listowel wasn't going to give up. With 5:44 left in the third, Listowel scored. Howick went on the defensive mode and managed to stop Listowel from scoring anymore. The game ended 2-1 for Howick. The team, fans and coaches were happy with the results.
Howick's next game is March 9 in Mount Forest at 12:00 pm. Feel free to come on out and cheer on the Atoms.
