Howick Atoms WOAA LL Elite Champions
On Sunday March 16th, the Howick Atoms were playing Tiverton in the Hornet's nest. The team was excited about the game. It was at 1:00 pm. The team was eager to play. They headed out to the ice for their warm up.
There were plenty of fans out for the game. During the first period the puck spent lots of time moving from one end to the other. With 7:41 left on the clock, Wade Schefter (11) scored the first goal of the game. With 5:56 left in the period, Liam Gibson (15) scored the next goal. He was assisted by Brad Reaman (23). Avery Harding (9) scored the next goal with 4:41 left on the clock. Ryan Dinsmore (14) assisted with the goal. With 3:50 remaining in the period, Reaman scored. The period ended 4-0 for Howick.
The second period, Tiverton came out and was working hard to try and score a goal. However, Howick managed to score several more goals. The first was by Gibson, with 9:24 left on the clock. With 6:00 minutes left, Dinsmore scored. He was assisted by Bryson Bennett (30) and Nathan Versteeg (12). With 4:12 on the clock, Reaman scored. Colby Thomson (10) assisted with that goal. With 23.6 seconds left, Reaman scores his third goal of the game. With only 2.4 seconds left, Matthew Wilken (16) scored and Gibson assisted. The period ended 9-0 for Howick.
Tiverton came out in the third pressing for a goal. The first goal of the period was scored with 10:48 left on the clock by Brent Huigenbos (7). Tiverton answered with their first goal of the game a mere 15 seconds later. With 5 minutes left in the game, Thomson scored for Howick. Tiverton managed to score the last goal of the game with 3:50 left on the clock. The final score was 11-2 for the Hornets.
The team was presented with medals and a trophy for winning the WOAA Atom Local League Champions "Elite" Division 2013-2014! Congratulations to the entire team! It was a great way to end the season.
The Atom's will have two fun practices. The year end banquet is March 27 at the Howick Arena.
