Another Valuable Point
Overtime decided nothing Thursday night and both Lucknow and Howick earned a valuable point in the round-robin Elite play down grouping.
Nathan Heipel opened the scoring for Howick in the first period with Miller and Kuepfer earning assists. Jason Kuepfer's second period marker up'd the lead to 2. But after that Lucknow slowly regained the momentum mostly due to undisciplined penalties by the Hornets. Devlin was called upon numerous times to close the door. The Sepoys did dent Devlin's armour once and trailed by only one at the break.
The penalty parade continued into the third and Lucknow's power play eventually knotted the contest on the back half of a four minute penalty that was called after the original infraction. To much pressure and time was put on the Hornet penalty killers on this night!
The Hornet penalty killing units frustrated the Sepoys on 9 of 10 attempts. An excellent performance for these units, but the one that tied the game cost this team a point.
