Inconsistent !
The midget Mustangs were just not able to gel together last night as a whole and fell 4-2 to the BCH-Seaforth Ice Stars. The team became frustrated as it seemed the harder they tried the worse it got. A lot of conversation on the bench between staff and players took place in order to resolve the inconsistent play.
Trailing 1-0 after the opening frame Hawthorne tied the game early in the second for the Stangs only to find themselves down 3-1 at the break.
After an intermission of refocusing and discussing simplifying their game plan to over come what was causing the problems in their game. Regan Miller deflected a Mehring point shot to pull Upper Maitland to within one with plent of time one the clock in the final frame.
As it seemed that Upper Maitland had turned their game around and looked ready to make another run at a come back, a rash of needless penalties forced the Stangs into trying to stay within a goal rather than loading up to go after the equalizer.
Mustangs first unit PK was stellar all night, but a missed assignment by the second unit left a Ice Stars forward uncovered in the high slot that she quickly pounced on and put an end to any come back hopes on this night.
