Midgets Come Up Just Short in Elite Finals
The Midget Hornets and the Milverton Drives met up on Monday night to decide the victor of the Midget Elite championship. Each team had recorded a lopsided victory in the first two games of the series. This final game, however, would come down to the final seconds.

Both teams came out flying, knowing the importance of the game. Howick had Milverton pinned down in their end for the opening minute, and Milverton countered with a strong offensive in the second minute of play. This back and forth play continued for the first with neither team being able to open the scoring until Milverton scored late in the first, and again as the second period waned to a close.

Howick would not let this game slip away without a fight. The Hornets came out strong in the third determined to win. After Milverton extended the lead to 3-0 Howick got down to business. Kyle Dickert ripped a slap shot home midway through the third to get the Hornets on the board. Dustin Robertson and Cole Miller assisted on the goal.

With the score still 3-1 with under two minutes to play, Howick pulled the goalie, doing all they could to draw even.
Robertson won a face off back to Dickert at the point. Dickert then unleashed another rocket to draw the Hornets to within a goal. Despite loads of pressure and great chances, including hitting a pair of posts late, Howick was unable to tie the game and fell 3-2 to Milverton.
