Season Finale
The Atom Rep Hornet's concluded the playoff loop play for the season with a 6-2 defeat to the Saugeen Shores Storm. The score did not reflect the end to end action and quality scoring chances that both teams showcased. Dayden Frey once again displayed his goaltending talents time and time again. Once when a Storm player started to raise his arms to celebrate that he'd scored, Frey slid from post to post with a huge pad save!
Kyson Williams tallied twice for the Hornet's in this contest with honourable mentions going to Garniss, McNichol and Wormington for excellent opportunities that were turned aside by the Storm goalie.
Hugenbois, Hill and Heimpel played a stingy defensive game to help limit offensive surges from the visitors.
Also contributing with strong play in this game were DeBoer, Reichard and Dinsmore.
This group of energetic and very eager-to-learn hockey players displayed excellent effort and great sportsmanship along with a "never-give-up attitude" all season long. The win/loss column does not always show just how well a team plays or has improved! Parents of this team should be extremely proud of how much character and dedication their children have shown all season long!
Many coaching staffs from other centre's and yes, even game officials, have commented on just how amazed they are at the spike in skill and work ethic that they have achieved.
I would like to also say a huge 'Thank You" to my staff at this time for their dedication and willingness to go above and beyond for team and for, to a greater extent, putting up with me!
Also Thank you to the H.A.A. for giving me the opportunity to guide this team for this season as they are truly a great group of kids! It was a great year for making a life time of memories.
