Frey's the Guy
Dayden Frey has been solid positionally and made outstanding saves when called upon in each of the last three league playoff games. Two against Arran-Elderslie and a rematch against Wingham from whom they opened league play against.

In the opening game against the Ice Dogs, Frey held his own between the pipes even though the visitors won 7-3. Hornet goal scorers were Kyson Williams with two and Jericho McNichol. The Hornets were inconsistent in the first two periods with their play, even though they played hard they did not always play smart. When challenged to play with intensity and smarter in the third, they responded by out scoring their opponents 1-0 and dominating the final frame.
In the return match in Tara the rep Hornets deserved a better fate as they played stride for stride with the Ice Dogs., but fell 5-0. Plenty of scoring opportunities were earned from their devotion to a hard forecheck and drive to the net for rebounds.
In the Hornet end Frey held his team in the game when called upon to stop any chances that came his way. The Hornet defence played strongly at both ends by making smart plays at the offensive blue line and strong positional play in their own zone.
Finally the Atom rep Hornet's were rewarded in the win column with a 3-2 victory over the Ironmen.
Kyson Williams scored in the first to tie the score and again in the second to give the Hornet's a 2-1 lead after two. All the time Frey was coming up with great positional saves when called upon. A couple even on breakaways!
After a late goal in the final frame from Wingham to even the score it looked as if this game was heading to overtime.
Williams scooped up a loose puck with 22 seconds remaining and raced the full length of the ice weaving through the Wingham team to gain the offensive zone.
After his shot was turned aside Gillian Dinsmore created a turn over from a battle for the puck that wound up in front for McNichol who fired home the winner with 11 ticks left to play in regulation.
