Howick Atom Tournament Rules

1.      All teams must submit approved roster and travel permit 7 days before first scheduled game.

2.      Each team guaranteed 3 games.

3.      Tournament is sanctioned by OMHA/WOAA, and all rules will apply.

4.      Any player receiving a major penalty will be expelled for remainder of tournament.

5.      Any coach/manager/trainer or staff member of team ejected from a game will be ejected for remainder of tournament.

6.      Three 10 minute periods in all games, stop time.

7.      3 minutes will be put on clock for warm up prior to each game.

8.      5 or more goal difference will result in straight time for 3rd period until goal differential gap is 3 goals or less, at that point will go back to stop time.

9.      No Time Outs

10.  No game will start more than 15 minutes ahead of scheduled time.  Please be ready 15 minutes prior to schedule time.

11.  Convenor decisions will be final.


8 Team Format Rules

Quarter final and semi final games that are tied after regulation will go directly to a shootout, with the following format:

a)      Three players will be selected at the end of regulation time for the shoot out and they will be designated as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shooter.  Any player who is serving a penalty at the end of regulation time or who has been ejected from the game is not eligible to be selected as a shooter.

b)      Simultaneously, one player from each team will take one shot on the opposition’s goal.

c)      If the game is still tied after all three shooters have shot, then the process starts again with the same three shooters in the same order but in a sudden death format.  This will continue until a winner is determined.

d)      A five minute, 3 on 3, stop time period will take place only in the A, B, C and D final games.  If tied after the overtime, the above process (A, B and C) will determine the winner.

  
6 Team Format Rules

1.      Round robin games may end in a tie.

2.      Tie breaking formula for round robin is as follows:

a.      Two points for a win, one point for a tie.

b.      In the event of a tie in points after round robin the following will prevail:

 i.      Winner of head to head

 ii.      Best total +/-

 iii.      Most goals scored

 iv.      Fewest goals against

 v.      Total goals for and against, divided into total goals for.  Higher percentage will prevail.

 vi.      Fewest penalty minutes

 vii.      Consult convenor

c.       A, B, and C finals that are tied will play a 5 minute, 3 on 3, stop time period.  Still tied, it will go to shootout with the following format:
