Working it out
The Hornets have struggled this year to finish out games and hold onto leads for wins. After coming up big against Blyth/Brussels the other night, they followed it up with a 5-4 victory over Seaforth. Again finding a way to hold onto a lead too claim victory.

The "Master of the Twine Bulgers" opened the scoring with the only goal of the first frame. Craig Devries finished off a fine three way passing play that began in the Hornets zone and quickly worked it's way down the ice and finished with a celebration. Burbidge and Espensen drawing assists on this text book way to let the puck do the work and on skating into open ice to receive a pass.
Shortly after Seaforth tied the game in the second, Devries pockets his second of the night.
Then, lazy and sloppy plays in the defensive zone by the Hornets lead to two Stars goals within 45 seconds. This lead to coach Hussey sternly reminding thoughs involved to get themselves refocused !!!!
With Howick forced into a penalty killing role due to one of those lazy penalties, the K.P. unit stepped up to regain the momentum. Thirtynine seconds into the Hornet penalty Heipel aggressively forced a Stars defenceman to move the puck quicker than he wanted to an unprepared teammate who then without looking had his pass intercepted at the Stars blueline by Hussey who quickly drove towards the Seaforth net and lifted a wrist shot over the shoulder on the short side to draw Howick even at 3.
In a little over a minute during the early portion of the final frame Devries pocketed his third goal of the game and Burbige put Howick up by two. Heipel assisted on the Devries goal and Brears notched the helper on Burbidge's.
Eventhough Seaforth scored late and battled hard to the end, our home town lads finished this game out.
