Kincardine (#II) was prepared to take advantage of the opportunities that the Hornets presented them throughout the evening and defeated Howick 4-2. Howick got away from playing as a team and were relying on making individual plays to gain the zone or moving the puck to the net. Without success!!!
Howick's best line all night was Harkes, M.Brooks and Kleinveld. Add a strong performance from Meyer on defence and after that many of the Hornets did play well, but, nowhere near the effort that we are used to seeing. Mulder was forced to make to many unexpected saves to keep his team in the game.
Burbidge tied the score midway through the first on a feed from Devries. After that the Kanucks scored three unanswered goals by the end of the second to lead 4-1.
A stronger effort in the third from Howick lead to too many scoring chances that were turned aside by the Kanuck keeper.
The only goal Howick managed was when Devries circled out around the faceoff circle and fired a wrist shot over the keepers shoulder. Assists went to Hussey and Baillie.
