Mustangs Gallop to Victory
Upper Maitland used their speed and were consistently winning board battles for pucks against the Kanucks in Kincardine Sunday evening in a 3-1 victory.

Upper Maitland lead 1-0 after two periods on a goal by Molly Berfelz as she fired a shot from what seemed to be a difficult angle that somehow found it's way through the Kanuck goaltender. This scoring opportunity began when Jordan Litt won a battle for the puck just outside of the Mustangs zone and moved it forward to Regan Miller who gained the offensive zone and fired the puck towards to net where Berfelz eventually fired home the opening goal.
As the third period progressed Kincardine pressured the Stangs into numerious turnovers until they eventually scored to even the count at one as a weak clearing attempt from the D was picked off.
Right off the ensuing faceoff Holly Nelson picked up a loose puck rushed over centre and fired a rocket past the the tender to regain any momentum that the home side may have thought that they seized.
A Mustangs penalty a few minutes later resulted in Kincardine forcing the play in the offensive zone until Emily Duck picked off a pass to the point and slid a pass of her own accross to Mallory Hussey who broke out of the zone and sped past the D at the point to go 1 on 1 with the remaining defender. After working her way wide to gain the offensive zone Hussey cut around the last remaining Kanuck accross the front of the net and backhanded the puck under the keeper of the twine to give the Stangs a 3-1 lead.
