Milverton Royals Holiday Challenge
The midget Mustangs opened with a tie and a loss on Friday and have placed themselves with the task of having to beat Mildmay Saturday afternoon to advance out of the round-robin portion of the tournament.

Friday morning Upper Maitland played Grey Highlands to open the weekend and battled back from 3-1 down to earn a tie at 3 all.
Sierra Johnston opened the scoring after Hussey won a offensive zone faceoff over to Bettridge who then quickly passed to Goetz at the point. Rachel sized up the situation and slid a cross ice pass to her defensive partner and Johnston bulged the twine with her long accurate shot.
The Mustangs then slowly allowed their oppenents to score three consecutive goals by the early part of the third frame. As the final three minutes approached Sydney Carson scored off a rebound that was created by her linemates Charlebois and Hussey.
Shelby Douglas then scored to even the affair a little over a minute later on a similar type of goal as Litt and Miller created the rebound chance on the equalizer.
The night cap game against arch rivals Blyth/Brussels once again saw our local ladies playing both to their capabilities and that of a team that reacted to the play rather then initiating it. This gave their opponents plenty of scoring chances.
The only bright spot throughout the game was the Mustangs penalty killing efforts.
To the point where it lead to their only goal. An aggressive forecheck by Hussey forced the Crusaders defence to turn the puck over. Even though Hussey was denied on her attempt, she maintained her persistant pressure and this time worked the puck back to Johnston who fired a long shot from the point that ignited the red light for Upper Maitland.
