Yeoman Like Effort
The effort put forth by the midget Mustangs in Blyth last night was admirable! Playing with a short bench the girls eventually became fatigued by the speed of their opponents and fell 9-1 to the host squad Crusaders.
There were times when Upper Maitland would out work their opponents and created numerous scoring chances only to be turned away by the hosts goalkeeper.
Madeleine Charlebois scored in the first period to draw the Mustangs to within one off a strong forecheck by Hussey who found Hawthorne speeding into the slot area and drew the attention of the defence. But, instead of shooting Hawthorne slid a perfect pass over to an uncovered Charlebois who quickly buried the "biscuit into the basket"!!!
