Full Team Effort
The Hornets made the long drive up to Lions Head Friday night to take on the Bruce Peninsula Northstars. The trip didn't slow the team down as everyone showed up ready to play.

Howick came out flying early as did the home side. Big hits by both sides set the tone for the physical match that was to be played. Both sides traded chances but the period ended without a goal being scored.

An early penalty to each team had them playing four on four early in the second. Dustin Robertson took advantage of the extra space to score the opening goal of the game. This lead held up until late in the frame. Austin Clarke blocked a shot at his own blue line and had a breakaway for the entire length of the ice. A perfectly placed wrist shot put the Hornets up 2-0 heading into the break.

Howick kept the pressure on in the third. Robertson continued his hot start to the season by scoring his second goal of the game. Later in the period, a Kyle Dickert shot was too hard for the Northstar keeper to handle. The rebound bounced right onto the tape of Mitch Baillie who made no mistake and put the Hornets up by four.

Later that same shift Tristan Brears heroically held the puck in at the blue line (his words). He threw it in behind the net to Matt Schraa who cycled it over to Robertson. Robertson then found Baillie in front of the next once again to score his second goal in less than 30 seconds.

The Hornet defense was solid the entire game. They thwarted every Northstar advance into their end. The odd occasion they did break through Blake Fraser had no problem turning their shots aside. The solid effort resulted in the Hornets heading home with a 5-0 victory.
