Winning Streak Snapped
The Midget Hornets headed up to to Southampton Tuesday night to take on the Saugeen Shores Storm.

The home side came out flying early and scored a quick goal just over a minute into the first. This seemed to spark the Hornets as only a few minutes later Kyle Dickert picked up the puck and headed up the ice. His shot from the blue line caught the goaltender going in the wrong direction and snuck inside the far post to tie the game. Saugeen Shores scored in the final minute of the period, giving them the lead heading into the second.

The game took a physical turn in the second with intensity and tempers flaring. Despite this Dustin Robertson scored late in the period to tie the game. His shot from a sharp angle found the far corner, with Dickert and Mitch Baillie drawing assists. Later, a sequence of events ended with the Hornets having no goaltender heading into the third.

Over the intermission Dickert raced to strap on the pads to go between the pipes. Fortunately he was prepared, as he had donned the pads the night before in practice. Despite giving up an early goal he was solid for the remainder of the game. His teammates played very well in front of him limiting the shots he had to face. Unfortunately the game ended without the tying goal being scored and the Hornets fell 3-2, suffering their first loss of the regular season.
