Crushing Defeat
The Midget Hornets made the short trip to Palmerston last night for the first game of a home and home against the Minto Mad Dogs. However the Hornets seemed to forget their game at home as this would turn into a game to forget.

Minto caught the Hornets flat footed off the opening face off and opened the scoring thirteen seconds into the game. The lead was extended to two less than a minute later. Howick managed to stop the bleeding for most of the opening period after that despite being badly outplayed.

The Hornets fared no better in the second period. A fast skating and hard fore checking Mad Dog squad kept the pressure coming and headed into the intermission with a comfortable 5-0 lead.

Perhaps a break would refresh the tired legs of the Hornets. A strong opening shift suggested a turn around may be in the works. However, a couple of early Minto goals took the last of the wind out of the Hornets sails. Despite some strong efforts from Hoffele, Dickert and Clarke, among others, Howick was unable to mount any pressure during the remainder of the game. The Hornets returned home having endured an 8-0 defeat
