Improved Effort
The Howick Midget Hornets faced off against the Minto Mad Dogs in the second half of their home and home Thursday night. Howick was looking to rebound from a woeful effort in the previous game.

This game started off the same as these two teams previous matchup with Minto scoring the opening goal in the first minute. Unlike last game, Howick would not let Minto take over this game without a fight. Only a few minutes after the opening goal, Cole Miller scored for the Hornets to knot the game at ones. Strong defense from both sides kept this score intact until the final minute when a defensive breakdown led to a Minto goal.

An early goal gave the visiting squad a 3-1 one lead in the second. Despite chances on both sides this score held up heading into the intermission.

Minto continued their trend of quick starts to periods by again catching the Hornets off guard off the opening faceoff. They broke in and gave themselves a three goal lead. This seemed to wake up the Hornets as they came right back with an Austin Clarke pass finding Dustin Robertson, who made no mistake to get the Howick back withing two. Late in the third, Robertson held the puck in at the blueline, finding Miller down low. His shot rebounded out to Graham Devlin who slid the puck home. This would be as close as Howick would come as they would fall to Minto   5-3. Despite the loss, the Hornets played a much stronger game.
