Another Step Forward....
A swarming Atom Hornet attack Sunday morning against the Owen Sound Jr. Attack gave the home side a 3-0 lead that they ultimately used to turned into a 5-3 victory. But, for only a brief time in the second and as well in the early stages of the third Howick played a dominate, energetic style of game.
Within one minute and forty three seconds, goals by Hunter deBoer, Jericho McNichol and Berlyn Garniss propelled the Hornet's ahead early. Rylan Heimpel, Kyson Williams, Quinn Wormington and Kaden Bennett all drew helpers on the twine bulgers.
A late second period goal and two more by the 5 minute mark of the third had Owen Sound even with the home side, as this determined group from the north were being a pesky opponent.
Howick's grittiness that they have developed from past games this season paid off as the game progressed. As the Hornet's regained their level of competitiveness the new found energy resulted in a pair of goals by Logan Heffer. Willaims and Bennett earned assists to round out the scoring summary.
Howick resumes playoff action Monday night at the Hornets Nest against Zurich trailing the series down 2 points to none.
