Off to Mount Forest for the next Atom game. It was on Saturday November 24. The team was impressed with the new arena. Nice big dressing rooms and lots of room for the fans. Coach Dinsmore gave the team their pep talk and out the dressing room door they went.
The 1st period was a hard fought battle. Many good shots were stopped by Shelby Foster (1). At 2:45 remaining in the period, Daniel Wood (6) scored the first goal for Howick.
The 2nd period was another great period with the Howick players giving it their all. Foster, again had many great saves and kept the team in the game. With 2:58 remaining in the period, Landis King (29) scored the second goal for Howick. Unfortunately, Wood received a penalty in the 2nd period for interference. At the end of the second period it was 7 - 2 for Mount Forest.
The 3rd period was difficult period for the Atom team. They seem to just run out of steam and spend some of their time watching the Mount Forest team skate by them. The defense lines were being caught out of position and that cost the team several goals. Foster again was great between the pipes in the third period. However, the goalie can only do so much without her defense. The Mount Forest team liked to shoot the puck at the top corners. ( A tough spot for anyone to stop the puck!) There were several attempts to score for Howick but they were unable to put it past the goalie in the 3rd. The final score was 16 - 2 for Mount Forest.
So this week the team has power skating, practice on Wednesday night and three games this weekend. So it shall be a busy week! Let's hope they still have lots of energy for the weekend!
Remember you can't score if you don't shoot!
