Howick Atoms win against Minto in Overtime!
The Howick Atoms were back in action on Wednesday night at the Harriston arena.  The team was very excited and hungry for their next win. They knew that they were going to have to work hard to win the game. There were plenty of fans out to watch the game.

The first period saw both teams working hard to keep the puck out of their end and moving it to the other end. There were many shots on both goalies and they were working hard in their nets.  Minto managed to score the first goal against Howick with 8:03 left on the clock.  It seemed to get the Howick team more motivated to get the next goal.  The team was working hard and trying to play their positions.  Their hard work paid off when Daniel Wood (6) scored his first goal of the night with 4:29 left on the clock. The team and the fans were excited! With 3:03 left on the clock, Wood scored another goal.  The team kept working together and Wood scored again with 0:55 seconds left.  The assists on that goal were given to Ryan Dinsmore (10) and Nathan Versteeg (33).  The team was very happy after the first period.
During the second period many shots were fired on both goalies again. Howick and Minto were working hard at trying to score the next goal.  With 4:36 left in the period Minto managed to get the puck past our goalie and score.  Howick had a power play in the second but without any results.  With 0:34 seconds left in the period, Wood scores a goal. He was assisted by Reece Hamilton (34) and Rachel Mills (19) on the goal. The fans were happy with the score.
The third period was a hard fought battle between the teams.  Minto managed to score a goal with 1:23 left on the clock.  Minto pulled their goalie for the last minute.  The Howick team seemed to get all bunched up at the blue line over the puck. A Minto player got the puck and went one on one against Shelby Foster (1). The Minto player managed to get it past Foster with 0:34 seconds left on the clock. With the final seconds ticking down neither team was able to put it in the net.
In overtime, another great effort by both teams.  With 8:47 left on the clock, Wood scores the winning goal.  The Howick team, coaching staff and fans were elated! It was the 3rd win in a row.  The team is working well together.  So much improvement is noticed in the entire team.  Wood was injured during the third period and the team appreciates his help in the overtime.  We found out later that Woods injuries where not serious, he will be back in action for the weekend. A sigh of relief was heard throughout the Howick Atom team.
The next game is Saturday at 10:00 in Milverton.
