Milverton Stops Howick Atoms Winning Streak
Early Saturday morning, the Howick Atoms were in Milverton for their next game. The game was at 10:00 am and Howick was playing against the Milverton Drives. The team was ready to go out and try hard. Many fans came out to see the game.
The Milverton team is #1 in the standings. Howick was going to give it their best effort. The first period saw lots of action at both ends of the ice. Both teams were trying to score the first goal of the game. With 9:33 left on the clock Milverton scored the first goal. Howick tried to get a goal back but was unsuccessful. Milverton scored again with 4:23 left in the period. The Howick team kept trying to score a goal.
The second period saw several shots on the Milverton goalie by the Howick players. The goalies were working hard between the posts. Milverton scored their 3rd goal with 3:34 on the clock. Howick players starting to push back against Milverton and Daniel Wood (6) got a goal with 2:53 left in the period. The team and the fans were happy! Milverton started to pour the pressure on the Howick team. Milverton scored with 0:07 seconds left on the clock.
Both teams came out playing hard in the third period. At 14:06 in the third, Milverton scored a goal. The Howick team was trying to work together but things were slowly falling apart. The players appeared to be getting tired. The players were starting to forget to play their positions. Milverton took advantage of that and scored the next four goals in a short time frame. Howick tried to get some goals back but were unable to put the puck in the net. However, with 0:32 left on the clock, Reece Hamilton (34) scored for Howick. The final score was 9 - 2 for Milverton.
Howick's next game is Wednesday night at 6:00 pm in Howick. They are playing the Minto team.
