Tough Loss Against Minto for Atoms
Wednesday night, the Howick Atoms were playing the Minto Mad Dogs in Howick.  The game was at 6:00 p.m.  The entire team was there and they were ready to play. Howick was keen to win the game.   

The first period saw lots of action from both teams.  The puck continued to move from end to end.  The goalies were getting some shots on them but not letting the puck in.  The fans from both teams were vocal and sharing their views from the stands.  Both Minto and Howick were unable to score in the first period. 
Both teams came out ready to play during the second period.  Both teams were trying hard to score that first goal.  At 8:28 left in the period, Minto scored a goal.  Howick's goalie was left alone to defend the net against three of Minto's players.  Howick needs to remember to always play their positions and not get caught.  Howick continued to try and score a goal.  The Minto goalie wasn't letting anything in. Several of the Minto players were focused on covering our forwards.  Several Howick players tried to score but to no avail. The second period ended with a score of 1-0 for Minto.
In the 3rd period, the Howick team seemed to lose their focus. Minto continued to work hard. Howick needed to remain focused on scoring the goal. Shelby Foster (1) was making many great saves in between the pipes.  Minto kept trying to score. With 14:02 left in the period, Minto scored again.  Howick seemed to wake up a little and try and score a goal.  Finally with 2:52 left on the clock, Daniel Wood (6) scored a goal. The Howick fans were excited.  Howick continued to try and tie the game but they were unsuccessful.  The final score was 2-1 for Minto.
The next game is Friday night at 7 in Howick.  The Atoms are playing Listowel.
Remember, respect is a very important part of hockey. It includes showing respect to your team, the other team, the referee's and the coaching staff.  When players are respectable of others it is more fun for everyone.
