Goal Tending and Team Work helped the Atoms defeat Mildmay!
Howick arena was the place to be on Saturday morning. The Atom Hornets were taking on the Mildmay Monarchs, fresh off a big win the night before. The Hornets started off a little flat early on. Shelby Foster (1) came up with a big save early on in the 1st to keep the game at 0-0. There was no scoring in the 1st with sharp goal tending at both ends of the ice.

In the 2nd period, Mildmay opened the score at 9:11 of the 2nd.  Foster kept the game close with a brilliant save robbing Mildmay of a goal at 2:03 of the 2nd. That sparked the Hornets and soon after Daniel Woods tied it up at 1 with 1:03 remaining in the second.
In the third period, the Hornets were picking up steam again!  At 9:05 of the third, Bryson Bennett scored a goal.  The assists were from Reece Hamilton (34) and Landis King (29) to give Howick the go ahead goal and the winning goal of the game. The Hornets goal tender Shelby Foster (1) made a tremendous save with 30 seconds left in the game to secure the win. A solid game was played by the team, Ryan Dinsmore had a very solid game on defence today and did a great job clearing the puck when needed. A team victory with everyone helping was the theme of today's game! Great job guys!!
Thanks goes again to Steve Todd for the article. I was on the bench again today.  It went smoother than last nights game.  The coaching staff enjoyed today's game as everyone was cooperating! Thanks team! Let's keep up the good work!
Remember, when in doubt, shoot it out!
