Atoms played at Drayton's Hockey Day
Howick Atoms played Drayton on Saturday November 2nd, at 10:00 am.  The team enjoyed the large dressing rooms. The Drayton arena has a very nice set up for the players.  Some of the players seemed to be sluggish today.  The team isn't made up of teenagers, so to play early in the morning shouldn't be a problem, so wake up team!

The first period saw lots of action in the Howick end.  Drayton was very strong in the first period out working the Howick players.  The team was struggling to remember to play their positions.  There was a lot of bunching up of the players around the puck.  This unfortunately led the Drayton team to score several goals in the first period.  Drayton scored with 12 seconds off the clock, with 1:59 off the clock, with 8:03 and 7:45 remaining in the period. Howick needed to regroup and start the second period off with some energy.  It was 4-0 for Drayton at the end of the first period.
During the second period, Howick did seem to pick up some energy and started working harder.  Some of the shifts got a little long for the players. There was 2:45 off the clock when Drayton scored their next goal.  Drayton scored again with 5:56 remaining in the period.  Howick responded to this goal with 5:45 remaining on the clock.  Bryson Bennett (30) scored the first goal.  He was assisted with the goal by Avery Harding (9) and Scott Eaton (18).  The team continued to keep Drayton off the score board. The second period ended 6-1 for Drayton.
The third period, Howick again came out trying to get another goal.  There were several attempts by the Howick players to score again.  With 2:33 left on the clock, Brad Reaman (23) scored for Howick.  Liam Gibson (15) and Veronica Darling (19) assisted on the goal.  The team continued to keep Drayton from scoring any more goals.  Gibson scored the next goal with 33 seconds left on the clock.  He was assisted by Ryan Dinsmore (14) and Charlotte Todd (22).  The Howick Atoms seemed to come to life after the first period.  They managed to rally back from a 4-0 deficit. The final score was 6-3 for Drayton.
The next game for the Atoms is November 10th at 12:00 in Mount Forest.  Hope lots of fans make out to the game.  Remember, the game will go better if all the players stay focused on the game.
