Howick Atoms take on Walkerton #2
Well another Friday night hanging out in the Hornets nest. The Atom's were playing the Walkerton #2 team at 8:15 pm. The sweaters were hung and the game sheet filled out and this manager was ready for the game to start. The team was reminded of their lines and they headed out to the ice. A big thanks goes out to Aaron Harding for filling in as ref on such short notice.
During the first period, Howick came out strong. Both teams managed to have power plays but neither team was able to score a goal. Howick was able to get some shots on goal. With 50.5 seconds left on the clock, Walkerton scored their first goal.
Both teams came out in the second period working hard. The puck moved from one end to the other. Walkerton was able to capitalize on a power play with 5:38 left on the clock and scored. With 4:52 left in the period, Walkerton scored again. Howick tried to respond to the goals but they were unable to score.
The third period, some of the players managed to find some extra energy and worked hard at trying to score. Neither Walkerton nor Howick was able to put the puck past the goalies. The defence were playing hard to keep the puck out of their zone. The forwards were trying to put the puck in the net. However, by the end of the game the score was still 3-0 for Walkerton.
The Atoms next game is on Sunday, January 19th at 5:25 in Listowel. They are playing the Listowel Red team. Feel free to come out and cheer on the team.
