Atom's Win Big Against Listowel Black
The Howick Atoms ended their regular season on a high note by beating the Listowel black team in Howick. The game was at 10:00 am on Saturday February 1, 2014. A few of the players were unable to attend, but there were no major line changes. The team seemed much more enthusiastic to be playing. Coach Dinsmore and Assistant Coach Todd reminded the players of a few key points. The team was keen to get playing. This manager headed to the bench again today to try and help the defence. (Happy Birthday goes out to Trainer Shannon Ostriyznick!)
Both teams came out strong at the beginning of the first period. Brad Reaman played goaltender again today for the team. Great job Brad! Listowel and Howick were getting shots on the goalies but nothing was getting past the goal line. The period ended tied at 0.
Second period saw lots of action. Liam Gibson (15) started the scoring with 8:49 left on the clock. He was unassisted with the goal. Howick continued to dominate the period. Bryson Bennett (30) scored the next goal with 4 minutes left on the clock. Veronica Darling (19) assisted with the goal. Bennett managed to squeak another goal in with only 2:38 left on the clock. Avery Harding (9) and Reese Ostriyznick (17) helped with that goal. The period ended 3-0 for Howick.
Listowel came out strong in the third. Reaman was seeing a lot more action by his net. Bennett scored another goal with 12:23 left on the clock. Congrats to Bryson for the hat trick! Listowel returned that goal with one of their own at 11:34 left in the period. Howick continued to work hard and managed to keep Listowel from scoring anymore goals. The game ended 4-1 for Howick!
The players, management and fans were very excited about the win! It was great to end the season on a winning note. Great work team! The team is headed to Newmarket on Saturday for a fun tournament. Lets hope for good weather so we can get there!
