Atom's Win Against Listowel Cyclones Red
The Atom Hornets were back in action on Friday, February 21 at 8:15 pm in Howick. The team was playing the Listowel Cyclones Red. After a day off school, the team had lots of energy for the game. The team was reminded to play their positions and pass the puck to their players. I headed to the bench to try and help with the defence.
During the first period, there was plenty of action for the fans. Howick worked hard as a team. The puck spent a lot of time in Listowel's end. With 5:01 left on the clock, Bryson Bennett (30) scored on the Listowel goalie. Listowel returned the goal with 2:29 left on the clock.
The fans were getting into the game during the second period. It is challenging to keep the defence lines matched up with the forwards. Sometimes, the shifts were too long, but I managed to keep the defence moving. Both teams were trying to get the go ahead goal. Neither team was successful during the second period.
Howick came out hungry for the next goal in the third period. The team worked together and started to see some results. The first goal was scored with 13:53 left on the clock. Bennett scored the goal. With 3:47 left in the period, Liam Gibson (15) scored the next goal for Howick. With 2:08 left in the game, Ryan Dinsmore (14) scored the last goal of the game. Avery Harding (9) assisted on the goal. Howick managed to keep Listowel from scoring anymore goals. Jaden Greer (1) worked hard between the posts for Howick. The team was very happy with their win.
The Atom's next game is February 28, 2014 at 8:15 pm in the Hornets nest against West Grey. Come out and enjoy some good hockey and cheer on the Hornets.
